Highlights of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Referendum Final Observer Briefing of 13 March, 2013

Current ZEC budget: USD$ 26.5 million (although ZEC Acting Chairperson, Commissioner Mrs Joyce Laetitia Kazembe said there was a possibility that they might receive additional funds).

 

Ballot papers: 12 million ballot papers were printed for the referendum against a voter's roll that currently stands at 5 592 088 but Commissoner Kazembe pointed out:

"Not only persons who are registered can vote in the referendum. Anyone who is

A Zimbabwean citizen aged 18 and above can go to a polling station nearest to them and cast their vote €.

Ballot papers were distributed to all 10 of the country's provinces based on the findings of the national census that was undertaken recently and are listed below:

Number of polling stations: The number of polling stations has increased from 9 449 (which was the figure given by ZEC last week) to 9 456 and according to Commissioner Kazembe this was necessitated by, "what stakeholders in different areas told us €.
